Application
Interested students (German and international) must apply to the Heidelberg University and the Universidad Pontificia Católica de Chile.
Information on the application procedure:
German students
Applications are to be submitted online before November 15 via the application portal heiCO and by e-mail to the joint academic programme commission (maft@iued.uni-heidelberg.de) before 15 November. A simultaneous application is automatically made for the underlying national master’s degree in Translation, Communication, and Language Technology at Heidelberg University.
Application at Heidelberg University:

Proof of fulfilment of the access requirements

Bachelor's degree with above-average success in a translation-related degree programme or a related degree programme with comparable content, in particular in a language and cultural studies degree programme at a German or foreign university
-
Very good linguistic and cultural competence in the B- or C-languages to be studied in the sense of active and passive language competence at a high level corresponding to C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference. Proof can be provided by language certificates or by the bachelor's degree.

The motivation to study the chosen programme and the persued profession, proven by the explanations in the motivation letter, the CV, and the recommendation letter.

(If applicable) proof of completed apprenticeship and professional activity, practical activities as well as further achievements and qualifications

A transcript of records in German, English or Spanish of the achievements in the previously completed degree programme

Declaration of loss/non-loss of the entitlement to take the final exams or of ongoing examinations in the master's degree programme in translation studies or similar degree programmes in Germany or foreign coutries: online form

International students

Application at Heidelberg University:
The documents required for international students to apply to Heidelberg University are the same documents as for German students, except for a few additional documents that need to be submitted. In addition to the documents listed above, the following documents must also be sent.
- Completed application form for admission
- Curriculum vitae in tabular form (German or Spanish), see admission regulations
- Motivation letter (German or Spanish) with the reasons for taking up the international variant of the study programme, see admission regulations
- All acquired university certificates with academic achievements:
- In the case of certificates from German universities: copies
- In the case of certificates from foreign universities: officially certified copies of the certificates including officially certified translations (German, English, or Spanish) + grading system of the foreign university.
If the (bachelor) certificate has not yet been issued at the time of application, a provisional certificate stating the achievements up to this point in time is sufficient.
- University entrance qualification (Foreign university entrance qualification: officially certified copy including officially certified translation (German or English))
• Proof of linguistic and cultural competence in Spanish and English (C1 of the CEFR) through bachelor certificate or language certificates
• Proof of German language competence („Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang“ or an equivalent certificate: https://www.uni-heidelberg.de/studium/interesse/int_bewerbung/deutschk.html)
• If the proof is not yet available at the time of application, it must be presented at the latest at enrolment!
- Declaration of loss/non-loss of the entitlement to take the final exams or of ongoing examinations in the master’s degree programme in translation studies or similar degree programmes in Germany or foreign countries: online form
- Passport copy
- For applicants from NON-EU/EEA countries: Proof of financial provisions in connection with studies (https://www.uni-heidelberg.de/md/zentral/international/finanzierung_bescheinigung.pdf)
- If applicable: officially certified copy or transcript of the certificate of the passed aptitude assessment test, if such a certificate has already been passed in Germany, including the corresponding overview of individual grades.
- If applicable: officially certified copies or transcripts of the certificates of university entrance examinations passed abroad, including the corresponding list of grades and – if available – the letter of admission from the foreign university + officially certified translation.
